Freer’s Corner is a small candle company located in Minnesota. The candles are made from locally harvested beeswax and blended with organic coconut oil. Jen, the owner of Freer’s Corner, is a long-time friend. Since the beginning, I've been able to assist in developing imagery and content for her company. For this session, we aimed to create images that highlighted Freer’s Corner’s spring collection. The simple design and the color palette of the candle vessels allowed for more color to be added without being too busy. We decided on a few bouquets of flowers to add additional greens and a strong floral feel, which we felt paired nicely with the collection.

When working with product photography, creating an environment that allows for minor adjustments to the scene and major control to the light is essential. I was utilizing off-camera strobes (see more of the details at the bottom), which allowed for 100% control of the light. The products were laid a small section of seamless white vinyl over the top of an end table to create a clean tabletop that was easy to work above. Lastly, keeping the back wall away from the product allows for the relatively shallow depth of field to fall off and blur the background.

The images came out extremely clean and striking. When working on a product line, maintaining consistency throughout the products creates cohesion. This cohesive feeling translates well when the images are uploaded to a social media grid or to a company's website.
