The amount of portraits I make in a week really waxes and wanes. I am often making these portraits inside a business or an office building, but I may also find myself in gyms, homes, and in wide-open spaces.

The first portrait was taken for a series on Thanksgiving Day workers. Sgt. Thomas and I met out in Eagle Mountain and we didn't have to look far to find a visually pleasing environment to work with. The natural light was golden and the additional landscape of rich yellows added to the image. I used a single speedlight to the left of the camera on a stand and added a bit of light to pull Thomas out from the background. I also was standing on the tailgate of Thomas' truck, which allowed for me to have a bit higher viewpoint and add some leading lines to the image.
