I am beginning to work backward from a relatively recent trip Southeast Asia. There was one prior post from this trip that was dedicated to photos that were made only on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, but the next few posts will deviate from that.

This blog post is focused on a handful of moments that will stick with me as I navigate this next step as a photojournalist in South Bend, Indiana. The above image is one of my favorites from the whole trip. I brought along a GoPro Hero 4 on the trip with no real plans for use. I had only used the GoPro a couple of times in the past few years and it felt like with all the water around in Southeast Asia, it could be put to use. We were out snorkeling with Lembongan Water Sport and our guide was looking for some sea life below us. I reached my hand out of the water and was able to capture this moment. The texture of the water on this rather overcast day adds a feeling to this image for me. Also, the color of the floatation device and the guide's shorts create a more interesting scene.
