I was prepared for a mad amount of travelers in many of the locations, but after leaving the Reykjavik and the Golden Circle route, the amount of other visitors at stops dropped off significantly. Being able to experience Iceland without throngs of other visitors made for easy connection to the spaces that we spent time in.

From glacial lagoons to the black sand beaches, these places continued to change during our travels. One of the most eventful days was when we stopped at Jökulsárlón on our way to Breiðamerkurjökull.

During our time on Breiðamerkurjökull, an outlet glacier off of Vatnajökull. The mix of blues, whites, and grays were lovely, but when we stepped inside of the ice cave on the glacier, I was floored. It was wild to see an example of frozen time, which will soon become unfrozen as the glacier recedes and never be seen again.
