This winter was hard. I wanted to get out more and make pictures of South Bend as the heavy snow fell. Or, drive up to Lake Michigan to capture images of the ice on the lake. It was a struggle though and I've found myself spending more time inside than I expected. During this seasonal slowdown, I've pushed myself to focus on maintaining creative momentum and continuing to develop my creative process.

I’ve found myself searching through online articles, books, and videos for more insight into how long-term artists sustain the effort. What I've found is that there needs to be a focus shift from production to process. For a career in the art realm, success should be only measured by the making of art, rather than the outcome of the art. This is a change from the production-orientated mindset that seemed essential at the beginning of my career. I don't think I've mastered this thought-process, but I know that it has helped me reshape how I viewed these past few months. Even though the assignments have been limited, this post highlights images created with intentional camera movement, a couple of examples from different portrait sessions, and a quick look at product images made for Freer's Corner.
