Live theatre is magic—the environment is reshaped, people morph, and viewers travel through time and space to new locations and to new experiences. I have the immense privilege of documenting this change quite often for the South Bend Civic Theatre.

As I photograph a play I am reacting to the storyline, the characters, and the scenes. Reading body language and cues can lead to the exciting and emotionally charged images that bring in prospective viewers to the theatre and drive online engagement.
