I wrote a short blog about the above image and its impact on me.

I am forever grateful for the individuals and families throughout Utah County that let me into their daily lives and allow me to share their story. It was a fantastic area to work and the stories that I was able to be a part of were important and impactful.

In the final four months at the Daily Herald, I started to feel like my photo daily news work was coming together. I felt I was creating more interesting and informative images. From press conferences to sporting events to more intimate settings, I was able to trust my abilities, slow down, and focus on finding moments and frames that were more complete. The experience of the hundreds of assignments that I photographed really started to play a larger role in how I was seeing as a photojournalist. I am not sure if at this point was the best time to leave a job, but so it goes.

Before we settled in to Indiana, Madison and I made a relatively quick trip over to Southeast Asia to celebrate her wrapping up her education in Utah and her new job. It was an opportunity to also introduce Madison to the family that looked after me while I lived and worked in Cambodia and showcase the country (and experience) that continues to impact me in so many ways.
