Jen & Matt
The rain was pouring down as I drove over to Matt and Jen's place. The clouds were not too heavy and the soft light of evening was still coming through. We had scheduled an evening shoot in hopes of golden light and an ideal walk down to the lake near their home. We were given a rainstorm that went from a mist to downpour in a minute or so. Even with the rains coming down, we made a game plan of how we were going to tackle this session.
By keeping the session close to their home, we were able to wait for the rain to ease up and head out into the beauty that arrived. The fog enveloped the area behind their house and isolated the scene even more. This made the session even more intimate as it seemed it was only Jen, Matt, and I in this large space of green and gray.
This shoot also demonstrates the importance of what you wear to a photo session. The red and blue compliment each other and also pull Matt and Jen out from the background. These clothing choices add to the image.
Even though we were given a rainstorm during our time to photograph, we made the most of it. By not worrying about the elements, we actually created far more unique and interesting images. In photography, we often talk about how atmospheric conditions can make an image. By being willing to wait for the right time and get our feet wet, we made some beautiful and unique imagery.
